my comment : Mobile Phone Noise Polution in Public Places: Is there a way to control People from shouting into their phones in public places?
I think every one suffers on a bus or other public transport situation where one or two people talk into their phones with over enthusisticly loud voices ; some times everyone is participating in this private conversation and allows this to go on out of embarassment (and simply because you think that you have no right to complain about the noise). The private conversation on the mobile phone is considered to be part of every individual' s personal freedom (even when it starts to bother other people sitting in the same space).
I am part of the generation which lived through the times of Smoker's Freedom ie when smokers were free to smoke in closed-in spaces.
It was very unfair of smoker's to take the liberty of poluting the air everyone needed by selfishly wanting to smoke in a room. It would be terrible when there were many people smoking in the same room.
Today we have the same problem with voices in closed in spaces. The problem with noise from people speaking in their various voices into their phones is a new one .... nobody ever thought about telling some one that they should controle the volume of sound coming out of their mouth, or the language, or the topic of the conversation , or shuting up because of the use of annoying words or phrases.
We need to think about regulating this new development with laws on behaviour in public spaces ....
