Via delle Cinque Giornate no 6  Blue house

I had the use of via delle Cinque Giornate appartment from 1984/ to 1998 .  It had a huge terrace which needed work and renovation , it was a great place for having dinner parties and i had a few of them .... there were two fig trees which leaned into the terrace from other gardens .. ..
Here Riccardo Hamryn had told me "you should talk less" .... he was just a 30 year old like myself whose father had been a well known personality in football.  Riccardo had seen me hanging up the washing and had run up to me to say something , but then he didnt .... he just looked as if to say "you should know what i mean"!

This picture was taken by Eric Black who was a photographer from LA living in  San francisco.  Eric used to scratch his ears in a meaningful way !  I had rented a room to him but it hadnt been blue ... this was a special picture.  I introduced Eric to my friend Sabrina and they hit it off ....  I had spent many evenings at Sabrina's appartment because we were studying for an exam.  It was during one of these evenings when she told me about a beloved sister who used to live with her .  Her sister was handicapped and  had been in the care of the younger sister for many years.  She used to tell Sabrina in Italian "Siamo tutti unici ed irrepetibili" meaning that we were all individuals each of us was unique and not repeatable ....  I went to Calabria with Sabrina in 1992 and we visited her sisters grave ....  i had an abnormal experience that night while staying at her place .  Deep in the early hours something was pulling at my arm and wanting me to follow them /it .... i was very frightened and left the next day not wanting to explain any thing, and Sabrina must have thought i was rude for wanting to leave all of a sudden.  I was glad when later on she told me that she had gone to the States to visit Eric.  She went on to teach special needs children ....

Giovanni Bogani was a young man who was studying at the uni and had written and published some  books in Italian , he came over to the Blue appartment and liked my frescoes but he said : Why didnt you do these paintings on paper or canvas .... it is a pity to have done them directly on the wall. he lived on via dello Statuto and was typically dispassionate as if he were an accountant.  I appreciated his comment.

This is a picture of my favorite painting which i called "Cosmopolitan Time" .  It was one which i had started to work on at the same time as i was working on many others .....  i took them forward  little by little and they formed into images i didnt even dream of.  I had hung up my jacket and a blouse on the wall just for fun and took a picture of this.  Later on when i showed the picture to Mario Mariotti the floritine painter he said : "This is about a man and a woman" ! probably because of the hanging clothes.  I took the painting to Dubai and it was in the gallery Mondo Arte .  They lost the  painting and all Roberto and Anna Maria could tell me (the italian staff) was that they couldn't find it. And no one paid me for it.

Article from "The New York Times" Madagascar and Vanila plantations Photographs and Text by FINBARR O’REILLY AUG. 29, 2018

Comment:  I once found a bag near a shopping Mall in Paris ....  It looked like a girl owned it because it was full of makeup bits and pieces and there were a lot of cards in it , one of which belonged to a buisness school and this had her name on it.  The student was from Madagascar and i was sighing to myself when i called the school and the receptionist wasnt helpful in finding the person i was looking for.  I went to the consolate or Embassy one morning , spending money on a Taxi in order to give the bag to a safe person working there.  The consolate reminded me of  consolates or embassies representing very poor countries ...   .... where is  all the money and wealth going ? SAMBAVA, Madagascar — Bright moonlight reflected off broad banana leaves, but it was still hard to see the blue twine laced through the undergrowth, a tripwire meant to send the unwary tumbling to the ground. “This is the way the thieves come,” sai...

Abigail Heyman’s Groundbreaking Images of Women’s Lives (from The New Yorker)

Photo Booth Abigail Heyman’s Groundbreaking Images of Women’s Lives By Naomi Fry November 1, 2019 “Houma Teenage Beauty Contest,” 1971. Photographs by Abigail Heyman In a two-page spread featured early on in “ Growing up Female ,” a photography book by Abigail Heyman, from 1974, two black-and-white pictures are laid out side by side. The left-hand photo shows a reflection of a little girl, from the shoulders up, gazing at herself in a bathroom mirror. The child, who is perhaps four or five, with dark, wide-set eyes and a pixie haircut, is separated from her likeness by a counter, whose white-tiled expanse is littered with a variety of beauty products: perfume bottles, creams, and soaps. These quotidian markers of feminine routine are accompanied by an element of fantasy; gazing at herself, the little girl stretches a slinky into a makeshift tiara atop her head. Seemingly mesmerized by her own image, she is captured at the innoce...

My mother's family life in Banglore as children (1930's onwards .... and before the Partitian

Life and opinions of Jahan Namazie/Azim Ali ....  written in the summer of 2018 They had this theory that children being small didn't need much food. The choicest food was given to the men, as they were the bread winners so they needed to eat well. The dastarkhan was laid with all the best dishes. The men were served first while the women and children waited patiently till the men finished eating and the leftovers the women and rest of the family ate. Lucky for us we did not practice this in our house. My mother believed men and women were equal and deserved the same opportunities. She made my brothers do house work as well as the girls which was shocking as men had to be waited hand and foot. Men never went into the kitchen or took care of the children. My father had broken the rules, he did the cooking and took care of the children. Every one made fun of him, but he had an excuse as my mother was disabled due to her arthritis and co...
