Recent Naive paintings 2010-2018

I love sitting in the kitchen . Spending time in the cosyness of this corner of the house always re energizes my bateries ....  i must admit that i never had a kitchen with a view like this one , but i saw a similar one in via Erta Canina in Florence when a friend had invited us to a party there .  Arian was a Dutch  Art History PHD student and was about to leave his beautiful students appartment in Florence and this was his goodbye party .... I was very grateful to him for lending me his PC with which to write my dissitation .....  and the friend i brought to the party Carina and her swedish friends spent a lot of time in the kitchen here and then took the place on rent when he left ....

Houses in the countryside.  Going for walks in the country side around Carreggi i discovered a place called  Serpiolle ;;;; i liked the name , the trees looked the same but there were some old buildings yith the posters from several decades ago stuck on them , time seemed to have stopped  here,  a ray of sunshine fallen in a certain way would show me and tell me what to do.
Robin had said that going for walks always gave her good ideas:  she had been clever and had found herself a new job situation

Walking the streets in the center of Venice ... it was during the Carneval ---- i found Daniela in a shop selling art work . Daniela was nice and she talked to me about a friend of hers with whom she had talked about everything under the sun ....there were times when there was hope that intimacy of the heart  and friendship could change the world and make it a better place.  Venice was always a mystery behind closed doors and Daniela took me to a friends home for tea  ..... her friend was a woman who was telling the people at her place about her voyage to the  North pole on a ship . The Antartica was a place where the rich went .... it was still  risky , and an adventure to go there

"Variations on a theme" the ponte Vecchio became a theme and i produced hundreds of these as watercolours on paper or acrylic paintings on a canvas , this one in particular is worked with gold leaf

Sarina had a piano in her bedroom . actually the first time i met her , she and Robin were friends yith Steve  .....   all teachers of English at the univerdity , we had gone out to some ones place and they had a piano and people got to sing around it , later on she invited me to sit next to her and listen to her and sing along .....  it was very friendly of her ..... we had only just met !  She was thirty and i had turned thirty two ----  it had been a celebration for me finally finishing University  .....

The ponter vecchio

I cant believe i got the opportunity to work on the Bridge ! in 1983  the brige was full of people selling their artistic artisan wares  and i wished i was an artisan who had interesting things to sell .  Soon after 1984 these artisans were transfered to another place in the center and i worked on the Bridge as a jewel sales woman .

Al Wahhab ,,,,  this is a series of canvases and was a project that i started in 2009 ,,,, i wanted to do all the 99 attributes of Allah weitten in Arabic ;;;, i only sold one of them in 2017 and it wasnt at all successful because i hadnt found the right out let to promote it  ....   i had seen something similar done in Dubai in an art gallery in Kempinskij Mall   .... the man producing those images used arabic script but with a photographic technique and  sold his canvases like hot cakes .... they looked modern and clean well made , they were actual and put arabic in a modern context  .... that was his product  ::: later on in Paris i had two of mine in a shop for some months ....  and i produced many of these.

San Deminiano main square.  My friend Christian and his partner Martina used to have an Atelier /boutique like the one i had in via Fiesolana in Florence . Their work shop was in via Roma and they had the same project of trying to produce art and sell it directly to the public.  They had both studied in the Art Institute in Porta Romana. We used to meet once in a while and exchange notes about our adventure of running an Art Shop. I had to close my self employed buisiness in 2005 and leave Italy because of family issues.  Some years later i received an e mail from my friends saying that they had moved to this mideaval city and were now running their workshop there and had a shop front where they sold their products and they asked me if i wanted to do some pictures of this historic area .  I have been  producing pictures of San geminiano for them for some years now.

This Ponte vecchio produced in Susannes appartment on Berger strasse in Frankfurt {septembre 2017] is different from the other ones .....

Article from "The New York Times" Madagascar and Vanila plantations Photographs and Text by FINBARR O’REILLY AUG. 29, 2018

Comment:  I once found a bag near a shopping Mall in Paris ....  It looked like a girl owned it because it was full of makeup bits and pieces and there were a lot of cards in it , one of which belonged to a buisness school and this had her name on it.  The student was from Madagascar and i was sighing to myself when i called the school and the receptionist wasnt helpful in finding the person i was looking for.  I went to the consolate or Embassy one morning , spending money on a Taxi in order to give the bag to a safe person working there.  The consolate reminded me of  consolates or embassies representing very poor countries ...   .... where is  all the money and wealth going ? SAMBAVA, Madagascar — Bright moonlight reflected off broad banana leaves, but it was still hard to see the blue twine laced through the undergrowth, a tripwire meant to send the unwary tumbling to the ground. “This is the way the thieves come,” sai...

Abigail Heyman’s Groundbreaking Images of Women’s Lives (from The New Yorker)

Photo Booth Abigail Heyman’s Groundbreaking Images of Women’s Lives By Naomi Fry November 1, 2019 “Houma Teenage Beauty Contest,” 1971. Photographs by Abigail Heyman In a two-page spread featured early on in “ Growing up Female ,” a photography book by Abigail Heyman, from 1974, two black-and-white pictures are laid out side by side. The left-hand photo shows a reflection of a little girl, from the shoulders up, gazing at herself in a bathroom mirror. The child, who is perhaps four or five, with dark, wide-set eyes and a pixie haircut, is separated from her likeness by a counter, whose white-tiled expanse is littered with a variety of beauty products: perfume bottles, creams, and soaps. These quotidian markers of feminine routine are accompanied by an element of fantasy; gazing at herself, the little girl stretches a slinky into a makeshift tiara atop her head. Seemingly mesmerized by her own image, she is captured at the innoce...
